Peace Like A River

It was a wide river, mistakable for a lake or even an ocean unless you'd been wading and knew its current. Somehow I'd crossed it... Now I saw the stream regrouped below, flowing on through what might've been vineyards, pastures, orhards... It flowed between and alongside the rivers of people; from here it was no more than a silver wire winding toward the city. - Leif Enger, Peace Like A River

What do you call these people?

From NATO ISAF:

Taliban extremists used an Afghan boy in a July 7 bomb attack in Sangin district center, Helmand province, that killed the boy and two members of the Afghan National Security Force at a bazaar.

“We’ve heard the attack has outraged almost everyone in the bazaar and that they are condemning it,” said Lt. Col. Mike Smith, Regional Command South spokesman. “Reports indicate that everyone is disgusted at this incident.”

The Taliban extremists paid the Afghan boy to push a cart into position, according to an ISAF official.

When the target arrived earlier than expected, the Taliban extremist bomber detonated the bomb before the boy could get away, said the official.
