More on the latest Al Qaeda video
In this post, I took a look at the latest video from As-Sahab in which Al Qaeda issued a threat against US Embassies. Much of the video focused on Al Hafez Othman, the suicide bomber who carried out an attack on a US diplomat in Karachi in March 2006.
As a follow up, I got ahold of a version with English subtitles, and I thought I'd point out some more details.

The video starts off with talk about honor, and not being humiliated. This is a strong factor in Middle Eastern culture. To underscore the point, from their point of view, the video purports to show Israelis bulldozing some trees on Palestinian land.
There is a litany of charges against the unbelievers (the word used is "kufr"), and one of them is "killing our offspring under the banner of family planning, and consequently our sisters and daughters have become barren." Just so know that their argument for why US Embassies should be attacked will be just as sound and logical.
In a sequence where the video portrays the Americans as destructive invaders, there is this brief view of a boy being treated with what looks like American hands. Would the evil Americans really provide medical treatment for a Middle Eastern boy out of concern? Surely Al Qaeda wouldn't lie about that, would they?
The video says Othman fought against the American and Masood's men in Kunduz, was taken prisoner, put into shipping containers, and nearly died of tuberculosis in Shiberghan prison.
President Bush is called the "Pharaoh of this age."
"Killing with right" is called an act of worship. There is a lenghty justification of why suicide is permitted, and indeed a glorious way to achieve martyrdom.
About Pakistan's President Musharraf, Othman says "he is the biggest devil, he is the biggest apostate, he is the greatest hypocrite. So finish him off first!" Such sentiments are why I said in my last post that the radicals are forcing Musharraf's hand. Tigerhawk expressed a similar sentiment about AQ in Iraq.

I say to the Defeatocrats, the narrator of the video has some pointed words you might want to pay attention to:
Clear enough? Good, now let's put aside this nonsense that cutting and running in Iraq will buy the good will of these radicals, and let's win this war.

Update: I wonder if the blue ambu bag shown in the image above is one made by Smiths Medical. Does anyone know if the US, or British or Australian, medical units use these?

I differ with Mr. Yon and most other observers in only one respect: I believe that al Qaeda's error was forced, rather than unforced. Wittingly or not, the Coalition's invasion of Iraq presented al Qaeda with an opportunity that it could not ignore -- an opportunity to drive infidels from the heart of Islam. Unfortunately for the jihadis, however, the decadent Western armies backed by George W. Bush's rank stubborness proved to be a much harder target in reality than in al Qaeda's mythology. In desperation they refocused their war on the Iraqis themselves. They staged "false flag" terror attacks to exploit the region's "honor" culture, hoping thereby to pit tribe against tribe, confession against confession. Al Qaeda's caprice ultimately polarized the vast center, the ordinary people who just want to go to work and school and build better lives. Nowhere has the Sunni jihad inspired so many Muslims to pick up a gun and wage war against it.

Pay attention, infidels! Your organziations, your companies, your trade and your ambassadors all over the world will remain our targets as long as our heads rest upon our shoulders. And our Jihad against you will continue until this civilization of kufr is history and a Caliphate based on the Prophetic model has been restored to this earth.
