That which doesn’t kill us makes us severely wounded
From Howard Kurtz today:
Rush Limbaugh has been relentless in his criticism of John McCain, prompting suggestions that he may have to soften his stance if the Arizona senator wins the nomination and faces off against Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. But if that happens, Limbaugh said in an interview over the weekend, he would rather see the Democrats win the White House.
“If I believe the country will suffer with either Hillary, Obama or McCain, I would just as soon the Democrats take the hit . . . rather than a Republican causing the debacle,” he said. “And I would prefer not to have conservative Republicans in the Congress paralyzed by having to support, out of party loyalty, a Republican president who is not conservative.”
Lunacy. If there’s a better example of McCain Derangement Syndrome, I don’t know what it is. How in the name of all that is good and holy did we get to a point where Limbaugh, of all people, would prefer a President Hillabama?
In this post, I pointed to statements the Defeatocrats have made regarding Iraq. Harry Reid saying the surge has failed, before it began. Kennedy saying in May the surge won’t bring stability. Feinstein saying in July the surge wasn’t working. Who can forget Hillary herself saying of Petraeus in September saying his report required the willing suspension of disbelief. Obama campaigns saying he’ll start pulling troops out of Iraq immediately. As a measure of how unserious he is, on his website he says “if al Qaeda attempts to build a base within Iraq, he will keep troops in Iraq or elsewhere in the region to carry out targeted strikes on al Qaeda.” Laughable. Remember how we all chortled at Murtha’s “over the horizon” strategy?
(By the way, it’s quite fitting that on Obama’s page of issues, “Foreign Policy” is the only one that isn’t in a larger, bold heading.)
How could anyone who claims to love America want this crowd anywhere near the reins of our foreign policy? Is there anything more conservative than making the sober decisions to ensure this nation is strongly defended?
In this post, I pointed out how the feckless foreign policy of the Clinton Administration encourage Obama bin Laden to think we were weak, and ripe for the taking. Do we want to risk that again?
These talk show panjandrums, the Bleating Five (Hewitt, Limbaugh, Hannity, Ingraham, Levin), who think themselves so righteous that their faith can only be made pure in fire might just as well pour the gasoline and light the match themselves if they think a Democratic President teamed with a Democratic Congress would not ultimately harm this nation’s security.
They certainly no longer speak for or to me.
